As Land Rover celebrate their 70th anniversary, it's perhaps fitting, that we take a moment to focus on their humanitarian endeavours. In particular, their new partnership and initiative.
I was fortunate enough to be the only journalist on an exclusive journey with Land Rover - visiting the Isle of Mull, to see firsthand; the impact of their new initiative, what it involves, how it works and how it's set to transform and save people's lives - literally.
A forty minute sundrenched ferry ride, from Oban to the tranquil Isle of Mull - an island, like many, which is devoid of street names and numbers.
The Isle of Mull initiative is the first in a global automotive humanitarian partnership between Jaguar Land Rover and the innovation of what3words.
What3words is a British technology company that has divided the world into a grid of 57 trillion 3m x 3m squares, each with a unique, easy-to-remember three-word address, searchable via an app that even works offline. Shorter words are allocated for popular areas and longer words are assigned for more outlying geographical areas.
Land Rover sent a team of drivers and volunteers to help deliver unique three-word address plaques from what3words to 2,000 properties throughout the island - many of which are located in isolated and remote areas.
The Isle of Mull is the first what3words island community in the UK.
Land Rover and what3words got involved after being approached by Mull Doctor, Brian Prendergast, who asked for help, to give every home and business a precise address that could provide a faster medical lifeline to islanders.
Using what3words, enables Dr. Prendergast and his colleagues to respond to emergency call-outs more quickly and accurately, especially to those in the remotest parts, as well as improving everyday healthcare across the island - such as dispensing medication and health visits. Without detailed local knowledge, it can be difficult for people, as well as new members of his team, to find individual homes.
Dr. Prendergast explained; "Using the new addressing solution will vastly improve the ability of local doctors and nurses to locate and assist remote-living patients. We believe it will not only help us deliver a better routine healthcare service, but will save vital minutes in emergency call-outs that could literally save a life. The island is grateful to what3words and Land Rover for putting Mull on the map."
The initiative can not only work for the medical profession but also others - "All walks of life can benefit from it", says Dr. Prendergast. This was evident when I arrived upon the island - the local cafe already had a plaque above its doorway, and the owner was more than happy to show it off.
Originally starting out of despair at getting to patients, Dr. Prendergast, helped bring together the local community, and in doing so, realised to enable the community initiative to be a success, logistics and support would have to be looked at.
Armed with plaques in hand, along with our driver, Cameron, the Doctor and I set off in our Land Rover to visit the islanders.
Negotiating tight hairpin bends, single tracks roads and cliff edges, the stunning locale of Mull, with its white beaches, was shown in all its glory, as was the remoteness and logistics.
"Our primary care, is to get to the patients in the first place and be hands on. That's important."
Where GPS and maps can sometimes take you the wrong way or fail to recognise a postcode, trying what3words firsthand, I was impressed with its accuracy. In fact, it took us to the precise locations every time, without fail.
Upon arriving at various cottages, the residents were only too happy to accept and receive their plaques and be part of the whats3words initiative, confident in the knowledge that they will be found easier and helped should their circumstances require it.
As basic a premise as what3words is, it's the implementation of the three-word address and positive impact it is having on Mull - an island, which is very much community driven.
Chris Thorp, Responsible Business Director at Jaguar Land Rover: "Addressing Mull by Land Rover is the ideal way to launch our global humanitarian partnership with what3words, which has the potential to transform isolated communities around the world by making them more accessible. This is just the beginning of what we can achieve together as we explore exciting opportunities for the future."
As I departed Mull, I felt confident - thanks to one man's determination to help a community, with the help of one of the world's biggest automotive manufacturer's and the innovation of a technology company - not only will this beautiful island benefit from this unique partnership initiative, but many others will too.
